In the brewhouse and the cidery.

The company started behind a brewery. We never really left. Here's where reconditioned IBCs earn their keep in a beverage operation.

Hot liquor tank

A reconditioned Grade A 330 with an immersion heater becomes an inexpensive hot liquor tank for sub-2-BBL brewhouses. Insulation jacket optional.

Yeast slurry transport

Recovered yeast moves between brewhouses in food-grade totes with sanitary tri-clamp adapters. We stock the cam-lock-to-tri-clamp bridge fittings.

Spent grain handling

Cage-cut totes with a hinged lid become 800-lb spent grain holding bins, sized for forklift pickup by a local farmer's flatbed.

Wash water reclaim

Two Grade C totes plumbed in series catch CIP rinse water for sediment, then re-route to outdoor wash uses. Real water-cost reduction in counties with municipal sewer fees on wash flow.

Bulk cider hold

Grade A 275s with a CO₂ headspace fitting hold unpasteurized cider for short-term transport. Our chain-of-custody tag has cleared every copacker audit we've seen.

Brewery-ready packs.

We bundle Grade A totes with the food-contact fittings most breweries actually need. Tell us your batch size and we'll spec it.

Beverage operations, deeper

Where a Grade A reconditioned tote earns its keep in a brewery.

Cold-side staging. Beer or cider sitting between primary fermentation and packaging — your conditioning tank, your bright tank's overflow, your blending station. Grade A 275s with a sanitary tri-clamp adapter are dramatically cheaper than dedicated stainless and pass copacker audits when the chain-of-custody is documented.

Wort transfer. Hot wort from the brewhouse to a cooling station — within HDPE's thermal tolerance if you're not running above 158 °F. For sustained hot-side work, look at composite or stainless. For cold-side post-knockout, reconditioned HDPE is fine.

Yeast slurry. Recovered yeast moves between brewhouses in food-grade totes. Sanitary fittings on both ends, dedicated tank per yeast strain, replace gaskets at every transfer. We've helped four Michigan breweries set up yeast-share programs using our tanks.

CIP and wash reclamation. Rinse water from CIP cycles in two Grade C tanks plumbed in series catches sediment, then routes to outdoor wash uses. Real water-cost reduction in municipalities with sewer-flow fees.

Spent grain handling. Cage-cut totes with a hinged lid become 800-lb spent grain holding bins, sized for forklift pickup by a local farmer's flatbed. Fab corner specialty.

Key takeaways

If you only read one section.

  1. 01Grade A for any beer/cider/wort contact. Grade B for CIP rinse reclaim. Grade D for outdoor wash water staging.
  2. 02Chain-of-custody tag clears copacker audits. We've cleared dozens.
  3. 03Color-code by service (yeast vs wort vs cleaning) and you'll never mix lines.
  4. 04Replace gaskets at every transfer in sanitary applications. They're $4–$7 each.
  5. 05Above 158 °F sustained, step up to composite or stainless. HDPE will soften.
Common questions

Brewery and cidery questions.

Will my copacker accept reconditioned totes for unpasteurized cider?
The Hudsonville cidery case study covers exactly this — their copacker accepted our chain-of-custody tag on first audit. We can share the tag template with your copacker ahead of time if it helps.
Can I get insulated totes?
We can custom-fab an insulated jacket onto a Grade A 330 for hot liquor tank use. About $185 in additional labor and materials. Quote on request.
Sanitary fitting compatibility?
We stock cam-lock-to-tri-clamp bridge fittings for sanitary connections. 1.5" and 2" tri-clamp options. $24–$36 each depending on size and material.
Lead time for a brewery package?
We typically bundle 4-8 Grade A 275s with the relevant sanitary fittings and a chain-of-custody summary sheet. Lead time 7-10 business days from order.
